Mira and Nails bodies (work in progress) by DonnKinney Mira and Nails bodies (work in progress) by DonnKinney

Nails and Mira’s La Doll clay master body sculpts,

For those who have never used it La Doll is an amazing air dry clay thats wonderful for making doll parts.  Im at that stage where i sand, add a little clay here and there, sand, add clay, sand, add clay, curl into a ball in the corner shrieking like a madman, sand, add clay, sand, add clay, etc, etc…

These two are “almost” ready to be cast in resin, I do my final detailing and sanding as well as jointing the elbos/knees on my master resin casts, I could do it on the clay masters but resin is more precise and durable to work with.. Once i have a resin master completely finished i create my final master molds.

Aside from working on these two, I’m also packing the last 5 Steves, Finishing the LAST of my 26” female doll sculpts and making Steve and Vince kits and finisehd dolls to sale and to donate to charity at DollAKon,… Many artists wish to be famous, or to have their work sell for an insane amount of money, I simply would like to have the luxury to work on ONE doll at a time. :-)

Thanks to everyone who shared and entered the “spot and share Vince” contest, I don’t think Ive ever had soo many likes on a post before, haha, keep watching, Vince will be appearing sometime before the week is out. :-)

I love seeing dolls come to life. I like how you made both dolls different heights. Hope you get it all done for DollAKon.

Almost got them finisehd for the con but fell short a couple of days, I really wish i would have had 100% finished (painted and clothed) pieces to show but at least got the rough prototypes finisehd for my presentation ;-)

Ooh exciting! gonna share how you create molds and cast?
No matter how many times I read up on it it looks so scary to do, and from my one play with embedding resin (which never fully set) is not as easy as the packet makes it sound!

Exciting stuff. Thought I was the only one who did the curl-into-a-ball bit from time to time! ;)

In my case, it's sculpt for a while, stab someone, stab someone else, write on a book for a while, stab a third someone, stare numbly at the open Word document, stare numbly at the unfinished dolls... Play a little D&D or GTA... lol

I'm very happy that you're experiencing creative success, though! As stressful as it is, it's pretty snazzy. :D

Haha,.. No i do it too on occasion ;-) Im all over the studio when i work, its hard for me to sit and sand for more than an hour at a time. I always break it up with watering plants, checking on FB/DA/Tumblr posts, putting stuff in/taking stuff out of the pressure chamber, working on other stuff that needs done and then im back to sanding :D

Im soo close to getting these two finished, If my parts from the 3d printers aren't delayed and i don't have any setbacks I should have them done in time for DollAKon,.... should,.. ;-)
